Eric Zawalich
Eric was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. He took up
the Accordion at age 7 and took lessons at Tony Dannon's Accordion studio in Dearborn , Michigan. University of Michigan
Music Teacher/Accordionist, Lana Gore, taught Eric for 4 years. She also taught World renowned Accordionist Peter
Soave. Eric also took lessons from Michelle Kramarz and Polka Band Accordionist, Frank Paja.
In
High School, Eric took up the Trumpet and was taught to play by his father, a popular polka band musician, who also played
the Trumpet in the Detroit area. Upon moving to Florida, Eric continued playing trumpet in the high school marching
band. The Marching band took Superior Ratings in State-wide competitions for two years in a row.
After High School, Eric continued to hone his music skills playing solo Accordion at local Italian Restaurants and Duo's with
a drummer, at country clubs around the Bay area. A couple years later, Eric ran into a former High School band member
who said that he was playing in a disco- funk band and invited him out to a rehearsal. Eric was asked to join the
band, and played for a couple years with another local disco/funk band as well as a couple of ska bands.
After taking some time off from the music scene, Eric joined the Funk Monster Band, and just wants to continue to Play
That Funky Music
